About Me

Hi! I’m Corrin Thompson, the artist behind the lens at {Captured} by Corrin. I am a mother, an artist, an athlete. A lover of all things vintage and a do-it-yourselfer with an endless list of projects!

My love for photography began when I was a little girl… Growing up, my dad and Grandpa always had amazing cameras and captured my childhood with beautiful pictures. When I was around 13, I won a $400 gift certificate to K-Mart. As many of you may remember, in 1995 $400 at K-mart was a lot of dough! On top of that, I was 13 and had no idea what to buy! I found myself wandering through the camera department and settled on an Olympus point and shoot camera with a few rolls of film. I took so many pictures… Of everything! My friends, my dog, my family. I soon wore out my camera. I sent it in to be repaired and received another camera almost identical to it for my birthday. I soon had one loaded with black and white film and the other with color.

The more I traveled, the more I yearned for a better camera. Before a mountain biking trip to Moab, I finally decided to upgrade. I came home with the most amazing photos and was eager to learn more. I thought about taking classes but couldn’t find the time with my busy schedule. When my son was born, I found myself with an abnormal amount of downtime, compared to my crazy busy life that I was used to living. I read and practiced and read some more. I was so eager to take beautiful pictures of my handsome little baby, I just couldn’t learn enough! I soon upgraded to a professional camera and lenses! And the rest is history… I hope some day that I can capture the beauty of you and the ones you love!
